amazing love

This week marked 24 weeks. 24 weeks = 6 months! WOW....time is flying by!

We've been talking about being parents and discussing how our family will establish special little routines like reading a story before bed, praying, singing songs, etc. One thing we want to do from the very beginning is sing hyms/Christian songs to her so that she grows up knowing the words by heart. Here's one I added to the list today:

Amazing Love
by: Chris Tomlin
I'm forgiven, You were forsaken,
I'm accepted, You were condemned.
I'm alive and well, your spirit is within me,
because You died and rose again.

Amazing love, how can it be,
that you my King would die for me?
Amazing love, I know it's true,
and it's my joy to honor you
In all I do, I honor you.

trusting

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6

I had forgotten this. I coasted along and then..."bam!"...rock bottom. I am thankful that as soon as I hit rock bottom the Lord pulled me out. He was kind to reveal to me that I had been trusting in myself and had forgotten that I need Him to guide me.

Just this past Monday I put down "The Happiest Baby on the Block" and got into the Word. I began my mornings with 20-30 minutes of reading and was instantly impacted.

Today I stood in the living room, amazed at what I had been given the strength to accomplish this week. I thanked the Lord for this gift. Had I tried to do everything on my own I would have failed. With trust in the Lord and obedience to what I have been called to do, I had a fulfilled and happy week.

Worship and communion this morning was the icing on the cake of such a changed week. As I took communion and heard the sweet words: "the body and blood of Christ are given for you" and just about started sobbing.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

I plan to stay in the word this week and hope you will do the same!

twenty-two

Baby girl is growing every day. Her kicks and movements are becoming more frequent. It's so fun and reassuring to feel her moving in there!

We are starting to find out the genders of all of her playmates that are due this Spring/Summer. How exciting to dream of what it will be like for her to grow up with some of the children we will literally know from birth! Our family is blessed.

jenny lind

I've decided on the "Jenny Lind" crib. It's the same style I had as a baby but mine was a natural wood. My crib is currently on our back porch. Mom says it's missing parts so it's destiny is unknown.

The nursery is fairly small so I think this dainty design will be perfect. I also love that it seems to never go out of style. Once I found myself drawn to it 100% of the time I knew it was the one.

Ours hasn't been ordered yet but here's a reminder of what it looks like:

hey, you!

Brian and I have had a girl name picked out for a looong time. I mean, this name came up in the very beginning of our relationship. Now that the time has come and this is permanent we have been making sure we absolutley love this name.

Tonight we practiced calling _______ from her room. We have also pretended to reprimand her as though she was in the backseat of the car and being sassy. Very funny!

We are just about ready to pull the trigger on baby girl's name...and yes, it's the one we started off with.

In other news....Brian is renovating the nursery closet. He's cutting out the wall, giving it a bigger door and adding double clothes rods. I am having a blast making decorating plans. Here's some fabric I am in love with:
